"Blessed are those who can laugh at themselves, for they shall never cease to be amused".

I am officially a slacker, for so many reasons I can't count. I have not blogged in over a month and didn't even post about Aly's first birthday yet! There has been so much going on everything is just passing in a big blur.
Aleyah's birthday was a huge success and she was spoiled rotten by all of our family and friends. Even though I am pretty sure Hayden thought it was her birthday because she got to open EVERY present I assured her that this would be the very last year Aly would not have an opinion. We had a party with about 20 of Aly's closest friends (OK our closest friends but really does a one year old have friends?) and of course both of our families. Nana and Papa were kind enough to let us host at their house and since it was August we thought it would be hot, so the lake would be perfect. Then we woke up and realized we live in Seattle and it is NEVER what you think it should be. Regardless we toughed it out and some people even went swimming (Jess and Ren you are so brave). Aleyah LOVED her cake- so much so she had an upset tummy and was on a sugar high for days after. It was so funny to see how much different she was than Hayden on her first birthday. Hayden HATED her cake. Crazy how much they look alike huh?

                                                                 Aleyah
The party was perfect, the day was perfect, and even after a year I can still say Aleyah is darn close to perfect. This kid loves to eat- anything really but she REALLY likes meat (hold comments please) Ham, turkey, chicken, she will eat it all,and lots of it. She still loves to cuddle, loves to laugh, thinks she is really funny (she laughs at herself in the car constantly.) She loves Mommy the best (not biased at all) thinks Daddy is really funny (like arm flapping, giggle funny) and follows Hayden around with her eyes all day long. She has been called lazy (or Mommy enabled) because she is still not walking and crawls only on her bum in a sort of scoot fashion (video to follow). But she is the sweetest, most gentle hugger in the whole world and she gives them out to just about anyone. Her favorite person besides her direct family is probably Papa. She loves to watch TV with him, walk around the deck, stare at the lake, and just generally thinks he is a cool dude. This last year has passed ever so quickly, and I often wish I could rewind to a year ago when she was tiny and all mine. She already has her own personality, and has brought so much joy and laughter into our home we can't imagine life without her. I know the next year will bring baby gates, Lot's of NO's, and constant chasing but I couldn't be more excited to see the lovely young lady our Aly will become. Really life doesn't get much better than we have it. We love you Aly!
